To help hotels that are not part of a chain to develop strategies focused on energy efficiency and cost reduction, the Mexican Association of Hotels and Motels (AMHM) will make available to these establishments the Manual of Good Environmental Practices developed by the Best Western Mexico.
According to the AMHM, 90% of the hotels operating in Mexico are independent, and of these, only 15% have an energy efficiency strategy; hence, the manual is a very useful tool for the recommendations it includes, as well as for the guidelines it can provide to establish a work plan.
This initiative also includes an evaluation by the University of the Caribbean of the actions undertaken, and the Best Green certification for those hotels that meet the established parameters.
