Despite the fact that the sectoral organizations of Colombia have warned about an accelerated growth in the construction of hotels in the country, Pablo Nieto, manager of Diploma Hotels said that in the country there is room for new developments and that the tourist potential of the country has not been exploited.
"Tourism in Colombia has large growth spaces, but smaller destinations like Isla Margarita receive the same number of travelers as Colombia. The potential is for us to even double the number of tourists who visit us," Nieto told HOTEL MANAGEMENT.
For that reason, the firm Luis F. Correa, owner of Diplomat Hotels, plans to build one hundred hotels in ten years with an investment of more than COP$1.2 billion (about US$665 million) in 23 cities in the country. To achieve this, the company is using different strategies for capitalization; the most recent was the participation in the fair "Where to Live and Invest in Colombia" that was held in New York in mid-September.
Nieto explained that the strategy chosen by his company to achieve success in new hotel investments is Costume Experience Management, a strategy based on personalized attention to provide the guest with an unforgettable experience.
"We disappeared the quality department and we have created the position of 'experience manager', who will be a person with vocation and taste for service," Nieto said, adding that when a traveler tells a positive experience about a hotel, he achieves a multiplier effect among his circle and, in this way, a loyalty of travelers is achieved.
