Meliá Hotels International revealed that the "Save" project, which seeks to promote energy efficiency in 200 hotels of the group, has achieved accumulated economic savings of 3 million euros during the 6 years of operation, according to the companies in a statement.
The company reduced annually 3.7% of kilograms of CO2 and 7.7% of cubic meters of water consumption per stay during the period of 2007-2010, compared to 2004-2006, which has allowed significant savings.
Climate control and lighting through room presence detection systems, water flow regulators in faucets and showers, have meant savings in water and fuel.
In the same way, the company recognizes that the investment in LED technology, air conditioning for heat / cold in geothermal energy, solar panels, insulation and enclosures, systems for the use of water cycles, among others have been fundamental for the fulfillment of the "Save" project.
