The growth of Panama's hotel industry is evidenced by the presence of important global chains and investments that are no longer only registered in Panama City, but also in the Pacific coastal area.
Hilton, Starwood, Sheraton and Trump, among others, inaugurated modern properties aimed at meeting the growing demand in the country, and with this it is expected that Panama's capacity will reach more than 24,000 rooms in 2012.
Starwood plans to open two Westin hotels in the country under a franchise agreement with Bern Hotels & Resorts Panama. Scheduled to open in late November, the Westin Playa Bonita offers a panoramic view of the Pacific and the Panama Canal, 611 luxury rooms, 65,000 square meters of meeting rooms, three restaurants, a spa and several swimming pools. The Westin Panama Hotel will be completed by 2012, will have 198 rooms, including 45 suites, and a meeting space of almost 10,000 square meters. In addition, the group is also preparing the launch in Panama City of its first Aloft hotel in Latin America.
For its part, Viveros Resort & Club is a sophisticated beach club that is built on an island in the Las Perlas Archipelago. Its inauguration is scheduled in the coming months. While The Resort at Isla Palenque is a private community project and boutique resort, set on a 400-acre island of lush virgin jungle located in the Gulf of Chiriqui.
Hilton has just opened the doors of its Double Tree hotel while the Trump Hotel Collection opened in the middle of this year the Trump Ocean Club International Hotel & Tower Panama.
