A year-on-year increase in occupancy, between October 14 and 30, of 20% reported by the hotel industry of Guadalajara after the end of the last Pan American Games, which meant an average rate of 72.3%.
The Ministry of Tourism of Mexico (Sectur) reported that the host city of the sporting event had an offer of 17,050 rooms, of which about 12,300 were occupied daily. Guadalajara had a total of 15,700 rooms available in 2010.
Compared to October 2010, this year an increase in the number of occupied rooms of 38% was reported. In the last week of the month in question, four- and five-star hotels averaged occupancy between 85 and 86%.
These same luxury hotels, in the last weekend of the event, recorded occupancies on average of 96%.
