In two years , El Salvador's hotel base went from 390 to 403 establishments as a result of the reactivation of business tourism and the growth of events in the country. This was confirmed by the Ministry of Tourism of that country, headed by José Napoleón Duarte.
"There is a growth of small and medium-sized hotels, and boutique hotels in the beach area," said Duarte, who highlighted the growth of sports tourism on account of several international surfing championships that are held in the country.
Similarly, the Minister reported that the average hotel occupancy in the country went from 63% to 66%, as a result of several promotion strategies at fairs, the arrival of new airlines such as Spirit and Iberia, and the growth of events in the country.
In the coming years, the country's strategy will focus on the promotion of the destination and its Country Brand under the slogan "El Salvador, Impressive", as well as on the search for new options that allow maintaining the growth of corporate tourism in the country.
"We have the infrastructure to grow: good roads, the most modern convention center in the region, the largest shopping centers in Central America, culture, archaeology with mayan ruins, and beaches with water sports," Duarte emphasized.
