With around 15,000 rooms , Puerto Rico will have by 2012 thanks to the growth in new hotel constructions that are currently being carried out on the island.
Government sources reported that the total investment will be about US $ 1,000 million, since at the moment there are more than 20 hotels that will be opening throughout the following year, and that will join the existing plant of hotels that are offered for the category of mid-range and luxury.
Hotels such as the Hilton Ponce Golf & Casino Resort and the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino have made renovations to their facilities to make their offer more attractive, while hotels such as the Ritz-Carlton Reserve Dorado Beach Resort & Spa will open later next year.
One of the reasons why the Government is motivated by hotel growth has to do with the appearance of a new direct BA flight which departs from Gatwick Airport, and which will reinforce the arrival of British tourists.
