As part of its expansion plan in Latin America, the hotel chain Riu is studying the possibility of building an establishment for the business segment in Bogota, Colombia. This Mallorcan chain (Spain) comes from investing US$140 million in Palace Baváro its new establishment in the Dominican Republic.
Riu's vice president of business development, Oliver Klutch, indicated that the hotel group is in the phase of talking with important allies for the business such as suppliers and operators. "We are interested in arriving in Bogota in the short term with a large corporate hotel; we have already carried out studies and the results were promising," Klutch said.
With the construction in Punta Cana of the Rui Palace Bávaro, the hotel chain adds 34 hotels in Latin America, and also plans to implement in this region of the world the model it used in the Canary Islands to build an establishment focused on the LGBT population.
On the other hand, the company is building in Playa Blanca (Panama) a hotel complex that will be inaugurated in 2014.La chain has, after 20 years of beginning its global expansion, 84,000 beds in Latin America, 24,000 rooms, 23,400 employees and 3.1 million annual customers, of which 48% repeat.
