In the city of La Plata, Argentina, the hotels located there must copy and file all the documents of people who stay with young people under 16 years of age, when they are not with their parents, but who are responsible and do not have authorization.
According to the draft ordinance that is in the local Deliberative Council, if this rule is not complied with, the stay of these minors in any establishment of this type in the city is prohibited.
According to local media, the purpose of the rule is to reduce cases of exploitation of minors that each year present figures close to the 4 million victims of this crime, most of whom are girls and women.
Failure to comply with this rule will result in considerable financial fines for hotels. According to the author of the project, Valeria Amendolara, this tool will make it possible to organize a mechanism to combat the constant growth of sex tourism and child abuse.
