The Barceló hotel chain revealed that during 2011 it achieved an increase in Revpar of 11.7% in Latin America due to the increase in average occupancy, which increased in the region by 3.5% as well as the recovery of prices that rose by 6%.
The group stressed that for the current year it expects to obtain positive results with the reopening of the Barceló Bávaro Beach Resort, located in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, and that it will return to 100% of its capacity.
Worldwide, Barceló has budgeted to open 7 new stores during 2012: four in Italy (Barceló Aran Blu, Barceló Aran Mantenga and Barceló Aran Park, open from 15 January in the city of Rome, and Barceló Floriana on the coast of Calabria), one in the Czech Republic (Barceló Brno), one in Germany (Barceló Hamburgo) and one in Morocco (Barceló Marrakech).
The Spanish group also announced the launch of its three new tour operators: LaCuartaIsla, Jolidey and Quelónea. The first will be the tour operator for long-distance and tailor-made trips, while the other two will be the generalists.
