The global starwood Hotels & Resorts chain reported a growth of 20% during 2011 and by the end of this year expects its figures to increase by 15% with the location of its new 80 hotels in different parts of the world.
Now the chain has as a market strategy to locate its hotels in key points and thus increase the number of rooms of which 21,000 were inaugurated in 2011. Currently, Starwood has a total of 1,071 properties.
Countries such as Brazil and Spain meant for the hotel chain an important profit in profits, represented by 12% of the profits that the group achieves in Africa, Europe and the Middle East, and 15% derived from revenues in operating terms.
After opening 81 new establishments in 2011 (a total of 21,000 rooms) and growing by 20% compared to 2010, the company's expansion strategy is based on "adding to our portfolio hotels located in strategic points and in growth markets," said the regional senior vice president for Spain and Portugal of the hotel chain, Philippe Cassis.
