The Spanish hotel chain NH put aside the plan it had conceived months ago to enter the Asian market and now has a new expansion project: focus on Latin America.
The outlook is for five-fold growth in that region within the next four years.
The president of that multinational, Mariano Pérez Claver, explained during the International Hotel Investment Forum that in Colombia a hotel of that group has just been opened, they have already set foot in Brazil and the plan continues in Mexico. "We have our eyes on America and to position yourself you have to run more than others."
NH has 34 hotels in Latin America and its project is to reach 130, focusing mainly on Brazil and Colombia. In the first country there is already an establishment under construction and taking into account that in 2016 the Olympic Games will be held in that country, the idea is to have by that year, at least, five hotels in operation under management contracts.
This reaffirms the growth trend in the tourism sector that is taking place in the region. The hotel expansion and the interest of foreign investors in Latin American countries demonstrate the current growth and allow us to glimpse a very prosperous near future for the region.
