During their participation in the Tianguis Turístico Puerto Vallarta - Riviera Nayarit 2012, which ends on March 28, the authorities of the hotel industry of Cancun expressed their goal of increasing hotel rates in that region by 5%.According to Fenando García Zalvidea, general director of the Real Resorts hotel chain, currently the prices of overnight stays in cancun and Riviera establishments are lower than those of other international destinations with similar conditions, such as the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Bermuda.
Garcia indicated that in case of achieving this change the new rates would begin to apply from next summer.
The official told different media that this type of events, such as the Tianguis Turístico, help in conducting business and a true reflection of this is the tourism dynamics that have been positive in recent months in Cancun.
"The increase in the tourist influx in Cancun is not accidental, it is the result of the effort made by the authorities of the tourism and hotel industry to attend different fairs and promote that Caribbean destination," said García.
