Arne Sorenson, the new executive chairman of the Marriott International hotel organization, recently announced that the hotel chain has plans to double the number of hotels the company has in Latin America and the Caribbean.
This objective has a set term of five years and will allow to increase the number of rooms available in the region. The news demonstrates again the solidity that the continent has been presenting in the tourism industry.
The expansion project will bring multiple benefits to the region, including the strengthening of tourism infrastructure, the increase in occupancy and arrival of visitors, as well as the creation of some 14,000 new jobs; the chain currently has 13,000 employees.
It is expected that during the course of this year establishments such as the Ritz-Carlton Reserve, which will be located on El Dorado Beach, in the Caribbean country of Puerto Rico, will come into operation. Likewise, the JW Marriott Hotel in Cuzco, Peru, and the Courtyard by Marriott that will be installed near the International Airport of the Federal District of Mexico will be opened.
