Hotel occupancy in Mexico increased by 6.9% during the first months of the year, according to the Ministry of Tourism of that country (Sectur).
The figure, obtained thanks to the monitoring carried out by the Datatur Statistical System in 70 destinations in the Aztec country, translates into 183,457 rooms occupied per day. Destinations such as the Riviera Maya, Cancun, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta are the best performers.
According to the statement of the tourist organization, the Riviera Maya had a daily average of 28,600 rooms occupied, for an increase of 7% compared to the same period of the previous year. For its part, Cancun showed an increase in its occupancy of 11%, registering an average of 20 thousand rooms occupied per day.
Finally, cities with less attractiveness for leisure tourism but with good performance in the corporate sector, also showed positive results. Mexico City, for example, reported an increase of 8.1% for an occupancy of 28,218 rooms per day.
