According to the Hotel Occupancy Survey in Argentina, which was published this week, overnight stays in this type of establishment during the first four months of the current year fell by 0.17%, compared to the same period in 2011.
The study, carried out by the Ministry of Tourism of that country and the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec), ensures that in what has to do with the occupation of foreigners, 7.7% fewer stayed in Argentine hotels, that is, the figure decreased by 320,771 international travelers.
Although the records of last April were very positive for entrepreneurs in this area, it was not enough to exceed the total occupation presented between January and April 2011. The number of guests in that month was 3,583,853, an increase of 15.2% over the same month in the previous year.
The same situation was evidenced in the case of tourists who do not reside in Argentina and who occupied the hotels in April, there was a marked fall of 9.2% in the fourth month of the year compared to the same month during 2011.
On the other hand, in what has to do with domestic tourists, in the first four months of this year there were 15,439,184 Argentines who spent the night in a hotel in their country, 287,385 more people than in the same period of time the previous year.
