Online travel agency Expedia released its exclusive ranking Insiders’ Select 2012, a list of the best hotels in the world based on its customers' ratings.
Representing the city of Cancun, three of its establishments ranked among the hundred best: the Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort, the Live Aqua Cancun and the Royal Cancun, which ranked 35, 49 and 57 respectively.
The rating was made among more than 150,000 properties that are available on the pages of the travel agency, only 650 hotels were selected to be part of this list.
The ranking was made up of reviews from more than 500,000 Expedia users in 2011, as well as the local experience of more than 650 managers who examined aspects such as competitive pricing, amenities and customer service.
Five-star Marrol's Boutique Hotel in Bratislava, Slovakia topped this year's list, beating out favorite Al Codega in Venice, Italy. The Royal Corin Hotel in Costa Rica ranked third.
