In two years , 15 new establishments of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) chain in Latin America will come into operation, five of them will be in Colombia and another five in Brazil.
For its part in Ecuador, Chile and Argentina, a hotel of the organization will be opened in each country and in Panama two.
Colombia has become an interesting destination for this firm that with these new five businesses would be adding 1,000 rooms to its availability in the country, which with it becomes 2,910 rooms in eight hotels.
According to Kirk Kinsell, president for the Americas at IHG, Bogotá has enough space to put more hotels into operation, and two of the five projects will be installed in that city.
"A little more of that effort is still needed, not only on the part of the government, but also of the private sector to be able to make Colombia that tourist destination. The country has a solid economy and one of the things that has brought a lot of investment is the tax breaks they have given to the hotel sector," Kinsell explained.
