The hotels in Mexico City highlighted for their good practices in the responsible use of water, received the Hidro Sustentable Hotel Distinction, a decoration awarded by the Alliance of Water Sustainability in Tourism.
This is the first time that hybrid consciousness has been recognized in this type of establishment. The hotels awarded were the NH Centro Histórico Hotel, Melia Mexico Reforma Hotel, Fiesta Insurgentes and Viaducto, City Express EBC-Reforma Hotel, City Express Reforma el Ángel Hotel, City Express Buenavista Hotel, Holiday Inn Mexico Plaza Universidad Hotel and Holiday Inn Mexico Coyoacán Hotel.
To obtain the distinction, the participating hotels underwent a series of evaluations that showed their practices of sustainable water use, such as environmental policies and programs, water-saving facilities and products in bathrooms and public areas, use of rainwater, ecological practices by their staff and guests among others.
During the application process, the establishments received advice, training and approach to cutting-edge technologies and methodologies on the subject.
This distinction will help the award-winning hotels to obtain international certifications, in addition to participating fully in the sustainable tourism segment.
