Motivated by the European economic recession, the Swedish group Ikea recently announced the launch of a chain of nearly 100 low-cost hotel establishments, with design and quality accommodation for travelers arriving in Europe.
The administration and management of the hotels will be entrusted to an international operator whose name has not yet been revealed. It has been known that, despite the fact that this company is a world leader in the sale of furniture, it will not decorate the rooms with products of its brand.
According to spokespersons for the organization, the design will be inspired by the Scandinavian style that has characterized the company. The purpose of these hotels is to make available to travelers a quality and modern product but that retains a reasonable price.
Harald Müller, one of the heads of Inter Ikea, the division that is responsible for managing the group's real estate investments, explained to the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet, that the objective is "to remove everything that is unnecessary, such as the restaurant, and instead offer a good breakfast, a fast internet connection, and an easy check-in and without check-out.
The brand's first store is expected to open in Germany in 2014. It should be remembered that this group is present in 25 countries around the world and generates annual sales of more than US $ 15,000 million dollars.
