Construction work began on a new Holiday Inn Express in Brazil, it will be located in Rio Branco and its inauguration will take place at the end of 2013, just in time to receive travelers arriving for the World Cup to be held in that country. This will be the first hotel of the firm IHG in that Brazilian town.
Joel Eisemann, IHG's Managing Director of Development for the Americas, said: "IHG remains committed to working alongside our Brazilian partners to develop hotels in growth markets that need quality branded lodging options."
This new establishment will have a total of 110 rooms on nine floors, four meeting rooms, outdoor pool, equipped business center, gym and bar. It will operate under a license agreement with a company of the InterContinental Hotels Group, but belongs to the company Interoceánica Hotelería Ltda.
The property will be located in the central part of Rio Branco, very close to different tourist attractions.
It is expected that this project will promote trade between Peru and Brazil with a view to the two major sporting events that will be held in the latter country in the coming years.
"We are very excited to begin the partnership with IHG that will be strengthened with the opening of the Holiday Inn Express Rio Branco," said Tulio Villela Lemos of Interoceânica Hotelaria Ltda.
Likewise, Álvaro Diago, IHG representative for Latin America and the Caribbean, said that both the World Cup and the Olympic Games have helped Brazilian cities promote tourism in all Latin American countries.
"The most benefited from this demand will be mid-range brands, in addition to the growing middle class that drives consumption in this expanding market," Diago explained.
