Although last year, when the rumor of the construction of a seven-star hotel project in the Tairona Park of Santa Marta, in Colombia, emerged, the former Minister of Environment, Frank Pearl emphasized that this was impossible and the idea was dead, today the issue is reborn.
At that time the news generated a stir in the country and a great controversy arose around the issue because the construction would be executed in a protected area and would be operated by the firm Six Senses.
As reported by a local newspaper in that country, "since last week, representatives of the investment firms Arrecifes S.A. and Manawindua S.A.S began to socialize in local media the benefits of the hotel project, which is in the stage of studies and prior consultations to determine its viability."
According to Claudia Dávila, manager and legal representative, it is a private initiative and has not yet been presented to the national government. It would only cover less than one percent of the area corresponding to the Park.
"It is a hotel whose sophistication in terms of compliance with the standards of environmental protection and good service do not make it exclusive. It will be a project of access to all Colombians," Dávila told the newspaper El Tiempo.
