The Mexican hotel chain, Hoteles City recently presented its campaign Let's rescue together the symbol of Mexico, which aims to encourage the conservation of the golden eagle, a species in serious danger of extinction.
The initiative is given in an alliance with the Mexican Fund for the Conservation of Nature (FMCN), and hopes to contribute to the knowledge, recovery and conservation of wild populations of the golden eagle and its habitat within the Mexican Republic.
"Hoteles City was born with the philosophy of environmental care, which has been reflected in the actions it implements in all its properties. Actions do not stop; day by day we look for new suppliers of ecological inputs and we join those actions that safeguard our environment such as those carried out by the Mexican Fund for the Conservation of Nature," said Luis Barrios, GENERAL DIRECTOR of Hoteles City.
To achieve the objectives, the golden eagle conservation project has coordinated an action plan that will bring together the FMCN, the National Commission of Protected Natural Areas (CONANP), the National Commission for the Use and Knowledge of Biodiversity (CONABIO), and the Support Program for the Conservation of the Species (PACE).
The plan will carry out monitoring and communication actions and environmental awareness.
"This is the first time that the FMCN has focused on the conservation of a single species; this arises with a vision of urgency because it has been confirmed that there are less than 100 pairs of this raptor eagle in Mexico. If we don't do something soon, in a few years, the golden eagle will be visible only in our national emblems," said Lorenzo Rosenzweig, executive director of the Mexican Fund for the Conservation of Nature.
The Rescue together the symbol of Mexico campaign is aimed at the 300,000 members of the City Premios rewards program, who will be able to make their donations in favor of the conservation of the golden eagle through the exchange of their points for donations of 50, 100 and 200 pesos.
