The Piedra Larga Wind Farm, owned by Grupo Bimbo, in Mexico, has just come into operation, with which the company expects to obtain a saving of 10% in the consumption of electrical energy in its production processes.
According to the president of the company, Daniel Servitje, the initiative began four years ago when the agreement that the organization made with Renovalia Energy through The Wind Developers of Mexico (Demex) for the provision of this service materialized.
This is a contract that will govern for 18 years where a saving of variable figures will be reflected that will depend on the behavior of the world energy market. In addition to the positive economic impact that is expected, Bimbo also made this decision, according to the representative, taking into account the environmental benefits and the reduction of the company's carbon footprint.
Servitje explained that with the entry into operation of the Piedra Larga Field, it is expected to avoid the emission of 180,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. Likewise, he explained that the energy generation produced in this plant will cover almost 100% of the energy requirements of Grupo Bimbo.
