According to the international consultancy DBK, this year the market for technical maintenance of buildings and facilities in Europe will report 4% less profit than the previous year.
This means that this sector will stand at about US $ 10,500 million at the end of this year, a fact that negatively impacts a market that has been a leader in that part of the world. With this, it would already be four years that completes this segment sustaining a downward trend.
This bad run coincides with the period of economic crisis that the European region is going through, which has meant a deterioration in the demand for maintenance services and an increase in competitive rivalry in what has to do with price, this causes a fall in business figures.
In retrospect, the market for technical maintenance of buildings and installations stood at -3.2% compared to 2010. The building maintenance segment accounted for 60% of the total value in 2011, after registering a fall of 3.1%. On the other hand, the segment of industry, energy and other facilities showed a similar behavior -3.3%.
By type of service, the maintenance of elevators accounted for 24% of the business in 2011, followed by maintenance services of industrial machinery, with 18%, and those of electrical installations and lighting with 17% and the maintenance of air conditioning equipment accounted for 14% of the total.
DBK's analysis describes that the sector is composed of about 6,900 companies that generate a volume of employment of about 155,000 workers, resulting in an average workforce of 23 workers per company.
