Colombia. The new headquarters of Banco GNB Sudameris in the city of Bogotá, obtained the LEED Gold certification under the category of new constructions. The building that is already in operation, was built by Arpro Arquitectos e Ingenieros S.A. firm that determined numerous strategies in order to achieve the proposed objectives in terms of sustainability.
Located in the financial center of Bogotá, the bank's new headquarters is a building of 22,000 m2, six basements and 12 floors that today becomes a benchmark in terms of sustainable constructions.
The LEED Gold Certification highlights the score (60-79) obtained by the building from the moment the construction process began until the end of it. It is only followed by the Platinum Certification with 80 or more points.
According to the evaluators of the U.S. Green Building Council, a non-profit organization that promotes the implementation of practices of excellence in sustainable design and construction, the building built by Arpro Arquitectos e Ingenieros S.A, obtains the LEED Certification by meeting sustainable requirements in terms of location and landscaping, efficient water management and reduction in energy consumption.
Based on the strategies drawn, the building shows the following performance figures:
- 98% of regularly occupied spaces have the benefit of natural light and access to views to the outside.
- 99% of the waste generated in the construction (excluding excavation material and descapote) was incorporated into recycling and/or topographic leveling processes.
- 32.1% energy savings, through the methodology of Appendix G of ASHRAE 90.1-2004.
- 59% savings in drinking water use from a calculated baseline.
- 25.5% of the net cost of building materials (excluding technical facilities and equipment) correspond to materials with recycled content.
- 56% of the net cost of building materials (excluding technical facilities and equipment) corresponds to materials of national origin.
