Colombia. With the growth of large cities and, consequently, the number of cars in circulation, looking for new solutions to facilitate the parking process is a necessity for all types of buildings.
Therefore, the use in Latin America of technologies such as the intelligent parking system of the Santa Fé Shopping Center, in Medellín, Colombia, is presented as a case worth analyzing and, why not, imitating.
The facility has a total of two thousand 885 cameras, a camera in each parking cell, and 28 touch screens located in strategic places of the shopping center that allow the user to observe their car in real time and look for its location through a 3D map.
Juanita Gutiérrez, Manager of the Santa Fe Shopping Center, explained in statements to the local press that "When the car enters the shopping center the license plate is identified, then there is a luminous guidance system to the available spaces that tells people how many cells there are in each part, the video camera is connected with touch screens in the shopping center."
This system had an investment of two thousand 300 million pesos and took a year in its research, design, construction and adaptation.
"There were people who took more than 40 minutes looking for their vehicle, the average time it takes today is from five minutes," added the manager.
