Spain. On May 8 and 9, the Ibero-American Congress of Facility Managers, CIFMers, was held in Madrid, Spain. This congress addressed from a professional point of view the main areas that make up the activity of property managers and their associated services.
According to David Martínez, director of the congress, "CIFMers will be an ideal networking platform for professionals and companies that want to develop in the region", since "it will create the maximum possible dissemination of the discipline inside and outside the sector. Never has any other event brought together so many professionals
of the sector under the same 'umbrella'."
For Pedro García Carro, president of IFMA Spain "CIFMers is the reflection of the current situation of Facility Management. It is a booming discipline that is spreading throughout the business fabric of the region. The results of its implementation have shown that it is a key tool in the management of
any company that wants to be competitive."
CIFMers includes among its contents almost all areas covered by Facility Management. The congress was structured in 6 blocks: workplace, technology and tools, energy and sustainability, Property and Real Estate, provision of services and, finally, personal certifications and standardization.
In all these blocks the speakers were end users, facility managers who spoke from their experiences and with a structure of "good practice", that is, outline of the problem, solution adopted and lessons learned or conclusions.
