Colombia. Cemex Latam Holdings will invest approximately 340 million dollars in the construction of a new cement plant in Colombia, to increase the annual capacity of its cement production in the country by about 1 million tons, the company said in a statement.
The first phase of this project includes a mill that is expected to start cement production in the second quarter of 2015. The rest of the plant will be completed during the second half of 2016.
This production plant will operate using modern and efficient technology to meet high environmental and quality standards, the company said, and will be located in the department of Antioquia.
Carlos Jacks, CEO of Cemex, said that "this plant will strengthen our position in Colombia, allowing us to take advantage of the growth in the level of construction activity. We will be closer to our customers by adapting our portfolio of innovative construction solutions to meet their changing needs."
