Paraguay. By the end of 2015, construction work is expected to begin on four corporate buildings for use by the Paraguayan government. The properties will be built on a 21,000-square-meter site that currently belongs to the National Administration of Navigation and Ports (ANNP) of that country.
These works are part of the Urban Reconversion Project, a macro initiative that seeks to revitalize the historic center of the city of Asunción with different development works, including two terminals for mass transport systems and spaces for commercial premises, restaurants, cultural and recreational areas.
Ricardo Riego, director of public works of the Ministry of Public Works and Communications of Paraguay, told local media that "the general benefit of this initiative is the enhancement of the historic center, contemplated in the Urban Reconversion Plan and where it seeks to revitalize the center of Asunción that is today abandoned by the flight of all capital to other places where it is economically more profitable."
Similarly, the director of public works stressed that this project seeks to attract private investment back to the city center.
