Mexico. The International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) awarded the Mexican firms Ares Arquitectos and Grupo Aryba for their work in the development of two shopping centers in that country. The recognition was presented within the framework of the RECon Latin America event held from March 8 to 10 in Cancun.
Ares Arquitectos won the Gold award for the Best Extension or Renovation for its work in the San Fernando shopping center. It is worth noting that this award was shared by the Andino shopping center in Bogotá, Colombia, which was also highlighted for the recent renovation of its spaces.
In the category of Best Development, Ares Arquitectos won the Silver award for the work done on the Plaza Nueva Veracruz project, where an industrial area was transformed into a modern commercial area. Grupo Aryba, for its part, collected an award in this same category for building the first LEED-certified shopping center in Mexico, the Alacia Fashion Mall, located in León, Guanajuato.
Finally, the Gold award for Best Development was received by HSS Arquitectura for the Plaza Egaña Mall in Santiago de Chile and Uriarte Arquitectura for the Open Plaza Ovalle, also in Chile.
