Mexico. Due to lack of budget, the local government of Guadalajara decided to suspend a project that sought to implement an energy efficiency program in 12 buildings in the state between 2014 and 2015. With the change of technology that was planned, it was expected to reduce energy consumption by up to 25% in these buildings.
However, before the cancellation of this initiative a property managed to benefit from the technological renovation. This was the case of the Undersecretariat of Administration of the State of Guadalajara, a building that inaugurated a solar energy system in January 2013.
In addition, the undersecretariat updated its air conditioning system, replacing the old equipment with more modern and efficient ones.
Faced with the determination not to make similar efforts in other state offices, the Ministry of Environment and Territorial Development, Magdalena Ruiz Mejía, said that "I have diagnoses ready; however, we are in a process of austerity and I will stay there until I get other sources of financing. Right now there is no money, it is not my priority."
