International. A new law approved by the French parliament will force new buildings built in this country to now have green roofs or equipped with solar panels.
The objective of this project is of course to promote environmental responsibility on the part of companies, benefit building managers with lower air conditioning costs, rainwater collection for internal use, better energy efficiency, among other advantages and finally generate green spaces within the city.
One of the reasons for the approval of this law is that, according to data from the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, the air in France in general and Paris in particular presents a high degree of pollution.
According to the Institute, suspended particles should not exceed 20 micrograms per cubic meter, while in Paris this figure reaches 80 micrograms. This has caused some 40,000 people to die each year in this country due to pollution.
