Panama. Solar energy systems companies Hybrytec and Solarcentury, joined the Ecosolar investment group to build a photovoltaic solar plant, "Divisa Solar", of 9.9 MWp, which will become the largest solar plant in Panama connected to the spot market; with the capacity to produce enough energy for more than 3,000 homes.
The Divisa Solar project will offset greenhouse gas emissions in its equivalent to more than 4,850 tons of CO2 annually and is one of the few solar farms on the spot market in the world. Projects like this are yet another example of how solar power displaces fossil fuels and the growing demand for clean energy in the region.
Similarly, in Colombia developments of this type are also being advanced, such as the project of Grupo Éxito, who on March 24 unveiled the largest photovoltaic plant in Colombia. The project was contracted by Green Yellow, a subsidiary of the Casino Group, and the execution of the project was in charge of Hybrytec with the technical support of Solarcentury.
The installation was made on the roof of the Éxito Panorama in the city of Barranquilla and took 3 months to build. 6,300 square meters were used and 2,070 Yingli silicon panels were installed that will be responsible for supplying 24% of the daily energy demand of the warehouse, focused on the areas of lighting, refrigeration and air conditioners.
The 507 kWp solar installation will reduce carbon emissions by 230 tons of CO² per year.
