International. The International Cleaning Industry Association, ISSA, published a new standard to help Facility Managers of commercial and business institutions measure and monitor the effectiveness of their cleaning processes. According to ISSA, this is the first scientific standard to determine the level of cleanliness of buildings.
The new ISSA cleaning standard can be applied to properties such as office buildings, commercial establishments, hotels and the like.
"The ISSA standard establishes a framework to help facilities evaluate the effectiveness of their cleaning processes using a mix of traditional testing and inspection methods," explained ISSA's director of legislative and environmental services, Bill Balek.
"Even more importantly, this standard focuses on using the results yielded by measurement and inspection to improve the cleaning process, which contributes to the overall quality of the indoor environment and the health of the occupants," Balek added.
