Brazil. According to statements made by Luis Weyll, CEO of the Brazilian firm Odebrecht, in the framework of the delivery of the Odebrecht Award for Sustainable Development in Mexico, projects carried out with commitment to the environment boost productivity and competitiveness of companies.
Odebrecht is a company specialized in the operation of infrastructure, energy, engineering and construction projects, which, according to Weyll, invests about US$30 million in sustainable projects worldwide.
As for the award, which is held in the different countries in which the firm operates, the executive said that it seeks to encourage university students to develop technological and scientific initiatives focused on self-sustainable production, social responsibility and care for the environment.
In the 2015 edition of the award for Mexico, the winners were three students from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM).
