Colombia. Monitoring and controlling the access of employees, students and visitors is a necessity for all educational institutions, so it is not surprising that more and more institutions choose to implement automated access control systems. This is the case of the University of Antioquia located in Medellín, Colombia.
According to information released by Hueiman Montoya, integrator of Segurtec Limitada, the company responsible for the initial installation of the project, to local media, the basic requirements on the part of the University were very clear.
"They wanted to control all the income through their credential that had already been implemented in a previous process, the TIP, which also works as a wallet for the city's Metro. They asked that this TIP have the ability to access the campus and control each of the people who access it," Montoya explained.
The equipment chosen for this installation was the Trilock-75ESCA2 turnstiles from Boon Edam. Which, according to Rubén Vélez, leader of the Security Department of the University of Antioquia, complied with the specific requirements of the campus.
The choice of turnstiles was given by their design for high traffic, their robustness suitable to withstand a high level of use, the number of users that allow to pass per minute, the guarantee of the equipment and the wear of the parts, said Vélez.
