Chile. The construction of the new airport in Santiago de Chile is scheduled to begin in July 2016 and is expected to last 4 years, according to the Nuevo Pudahuel consortium, in charge of the project. The expansion of the Arturo Merino Benítez Airport (AMB) will be carried out in phases, in February 2016 the design will be delivered, the construction will begin in July of that year and will end in July 2020.
The project includes the renovation of 28,000 square meters of existing facilities, redesign and expansion of the current terminal, as well as the financing, design and construction of a new terminal of 175,000 square meters.
Nicolas Notebaert, general manager of Vinci Airports, one of the companies belonging to the consortium in charge of the renovation of the airport, told local media that the key aspects of the project are to expand the space for the commercial offer creating more sales area, a wide variety of shops, restaurants and services that allow to provide a better passenger experience.
