Colombia. A house located in the Colombian municipality of Rionegro received the certification in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (Leed) Gold category granted by the Sustainable Construction Council of the United States (USGBC).
Teorema MPS was the company in charge of the design and construction of this property that, according to its statements to local media, is the first residential work to receive the "Leed for Homes" recognition in Latin America in the Gold category.
The construction of 1,800 square meters of area, 550 for the main house, has a metal structure, walls and plates in steel, polyurethane coatings with acoustic benefits, tempered glass and double glazing. In addition, it has a self-sufficient photovoltaic system and a complete home automation installation.
Álvaro Bejarano, technical manager of Teorema MPS, explained "the members of the USGBC analyzed innovation, the selection of the site where the house was, the efficiency of water consumption, materials, resources, indoor environmental quality and even awareness and education about the impact of the work."
