Chile. Santiago de Chile hosted a new version of the Workplace Conference event, in which a group of experts discussed the changes that the work environment will experience in the coming years. Speaking to local media El Mercurio, Francisco Vásquez, president of Workplace Conference, explained that currently "the person is much more mobile than he was in the past, he is no longer tied to his job. It needs and can have other spaces."
"Companies are still run by baby boomers, who are reluctant to these changes, but Generation Y, which was born into a digital and mobile society, is breaking into the job market. They already represent 30% of the workforce and will soon be more than 50 percent," Vasquez added.
For her part, Carolina Pérez, general manager of Contract Workplaces, pointed out that "the office ceased to be a sum of cubicles to house people. What adds value today are collaborative spaces to work as a team."
