Spain. The number of buildings that have obtained LEED certification in Spain exceeded the barrier of 100 properties, according to the Spain Green Builidng Council (SpainGBC). In total, Spain has 17 LEED Platinum buildings, 52 Gold, 23 Silver and 9 at the certified level.
The last facility to join this list, as number 101, was the Rambla de Cataluña 6 Building, in charge of Inmobiliaria RC6, which received the Leed-BO&M Silver Operation and Maintenance certification.
In addition to the above, last May Spain exceeded the 250 projects registered in the LEED program.
SpainGBC certified its first LEED building in 2006, the Alvento Business Park, in Metrovacesa. In addition, it currently ranks as the third country in Europe, after Germany and Sweden, in number of sustainable buildings, and tenth worldwide.
