Spain. On September 24 and 25, Madrid was the center of attention of the Facility Management sector by hosting the second edition of CIFMers, the International Congress of Facility Managers. More than 400 professionals from more than 26 countries gathered in the Spanish capital to share two days of training, debate and networking around Facility Management.
Among the guest speakers was Eduardo Brito, director of Real Estate and General Services of Scotiabank Chile, who gave a talk focused on the topic of Property and Real Estate. Prior to the event, Brito spoke with the organizers about his vision of the industry.
Brito has bet during his career on the strategic value of Corporate Real Estate, and pointed out in reference to the importance of this field for organizations that "from the moment a company requires facilities to develop its business these become part of the productive chain; from the moment the customer interacts within those facilities these are part of the product or service delivered. From the moment that the client inhabits a space lives an experience".
Brito also shared his vision on how to implement an effective and efficient relationship between FM and Real Estate professionals. In that sense, he said that "I think everything starts from sharing the vision. Real Estate seeks the sustainability of the company, perhaps with a more economical look. The FM lives the world of operation and therefore has a strong impact in the short term. An efficient and effective administration should have a dual look."
