. A new study published by the International Association of Facility Management (IFMA) in conjunction with its World Workplace 2015 event, offers a critical perspective on the evolution of work strategies. The document titled "Distributed Work Revisited" talks about work distribution plans and highlights the growing importance of the role of Facility Managers and real estate professionals.
"Our research confirms that distributed work strategies are here to stay," says Gordon Wright, director of consulting at HOK, a co-author and co-sponsor of the report.
"The key for organizations around the world is to understand how to modify these work strategies over time to keep pace with the changing needs of their people and operations," he added.
IFMA also found that more and more organizations are employing a "growth without growth" strategy, which seeks to get more people to use less space, this sharing relationship has increased in such a way that organizations are increasing their size using the same amount of real estate.
The study also highlights the growing importance of FM professionals in strategic workplace decisions. Specifically, when asked who was driving decisions related to the distributed work application, respondents identified FM and real estate managers in 30 percent of the responses, a percentage only slightly lower than that of senior executives (38 percent).
