. ONVIF, the leading global standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, announced the project's first draft for Profile A, a specification that establishes an interface for access control clients.
Profile A covers common day-to-day tasks for users such as security agents, receptionists, or HR professionals who must grant and revoke employee credentials, create and update schedules, as well as make changes to access control privileges within the system. Available for review on the ONVIF website, Profile A allows the configuration of these functions at the level of the access control client.
"Profile A is the next step in ONVIF's commitment to enable interoperability in the access control market by increasing system functionality and management at the customer level," explained Suresh Raman, Chair of ONVIF's Profile A working group.
"This new profile complements Profile C to go beyond basic event management and door access control. In addition, it allows greater integration between access control systems and IP video management systems."
