Colombia. The Energy and Gas Regulatory Commission (CREG) is preparing the resolution establishing fines for people who waste energy, as well as discount incentives for those who achieve savings on their bills this year.
The director of the CREG, Jorge Pinto, given the difficult climatic situation of the country, assured that the way in which the system will operate will allow to identify the Colombians who waste the service and those who also make good use of it.
"If a light bulb is lit more than the account and exceeds the average consumption of 125 kWh per month (average consumption for a household of 4 people) it will be sanctioned with an overprice, but if on the contrary, it manages to reflect a saving below the average will receive a reduction in the value of the bill," said the director to local media.
However, Pinto explained that the charges for excess will depend on the region and the thermal floor where the service is available, because in the case of the Caribbean Coast the bill will increase in average consumption, since this part of the country demand has increased.
In the same way, the model that could be implemented for other sectors such as industrial, commercial and services is studied.
