According to the Colombian Council of Sustainable Construction, the Oficinas Chicó 92-11 project obtained the LEED Core & Shell Gold category certification by reaching 64 points. According to its promoters, this is also the first building to obtain district certification of sustainable construction.
This project of 10,700 square meters of high quality is located in the city of Bogotá and implements sustainability strategies with greater focus on the quality of the indoor environment. In this way the property offers a healthy space to its occupants.
The interior spaces demanded an air conditioning system, which would mean a high energy consumption. However, to meet this need for conditioning and generate good indoor air quality, an evaporative cooling system was installed, which in this case reports a saving of around 50% in energy consumption compared to a conventional system.
Similarly, the building has an efficient artificial lighting design, which consists of LED lighting and study of light densities to achieve greater efficiency. It also has energy-efficient elevators. All these strategies together report a 28% saving in energy consumption.
The building is designed so that its temperatures inside are always within the comfort range. There is also the ability to maneuver the systems through great controllability, and the spaces have low VOCs for greater general well-being of the occupants.
