Uruguayan and Colombian airport, the best in South America

Latin America. According to that international portal 'The Guide to Sleeping in Airports', which is based on the opinion of 25,000 travelers to elaborate its scale, the carrasco international airport, on the outskirts of Montevideo, was rated as the best, while El Dorado ranked second and José María Córdova, fifth.

The other two terminals that are part of the best five are the José Joaquín de Olmedo in Guayaquil (Ecuador) and the Jorge Newbery metropolitan airport in Buenos Aires (Argentina).
The José María Córdova de Rionegro (which serves Medellín) complements the list of the five best air terminals in South America.
Uruguay's main aerodrome ranked first in the list of best airports in South America that the website The Guide to Sleeping in Airports has been producing for approximately 20 years.
"It is as functional as it is beautiful and travelers were satisfied with how easy and safe it is to tour the terminal," said the specialized portal, which in turn stressed that the attention of the employees of the Uruguayan airport "further improves the experience."
Its position on the list "has steadily improved since the 2010 refurbishment" at the airport, the publication added.
To prepare the list, 'The Guide to Sleeping in Airports' also took into account the opinion of users, various aspects such as the comfort of the terminal facilities, its offer of services, both general and gastronomic, cleanliness, security and the treatment provided to tourists, among others.
Carrasco International Airport, which since the inauguration of its new building in 2009 is capable of receiving 4.5 million passengers per year, occupies an area of 45,000 square meters and is covered by a glazed dome of more than 400 meters in length that allows the entry of natural light.
The terminal also has eight boarding gates, four of them equipped with telescopic sleeves, 44 check-in stations and three baggage claim belts.
It also contains a large viewing terrace overlooking the runways and a parking lot with capacity for 1,200 vehicles, as well as cafes, VIP lounges and a duty-free shopping area.
