The United States is successfully entering the necessary trend of energy saving. This was reported by the Department of Energy Affairs of that country, which sponsors the program called Better Buildings Challenge. From this initiative it was announced that there has been a 2.5% increase in efficiency since the campaign began in 2011.
The energy consumed by commercial and industrial buildings in the United States accounts for half of the total energy consumption of the entire country. That is why President Obama himself proposed the goal of a 20% reduction by 2020.
"Our partners' leadership and investments in this Better Buildings Challenge are demonstrating the promise of energy efficiency by reducing energy costs, helping to create American jobs and increase competitiveness in the private sector," said Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz.
This initiative is being followed by more than 110 public, private, commercial and industrial organizations, the challenge is to achieve energy savings in their operations and their facilities and, subsequently, share their methods with other companies in order to multiply the effects. Currently, more than 7,700 facilities have implemented these practices.
