According to a study published by the Business Mobility Barometer of the multinational Motorola Solutions for the hotel industry, it has become essential to integrate the use of mobile and wireless technology into its processes and services .
The result of this research speaks of the fact that 88% of hotel companies in Latin America agree with this position, while 82% affirmed that the implementation of this type of systems provides a serious competitive advantage.
Among the most widely used equipment are laptops and mobile phones. However, they are not the ones with the greatest projection for the coming months, as the study also revealed that growth expectations in that sense for this year are very high, with portable phones over IP voice and tablets being the devices that present a greater growth.
This research included hotels in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico, four countries that are considered to be large hotel economies in Latin America, since together they represent 74% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the region.
Other results delivered by Motorola Solutions indicate that 62% of hotel companies adopted or are in the process of adopting two-way radios for communications and 88% already have at least one WLAN network in their different IEEE standards.
According to Gustavo Wroble, Motorola Solutions' Director of Communications for Latin America and the Caribbean, "Companies in the industry are clear about the importance of mobile and wireless technology and the impact this has on customer satisfaction."
