According to santiago Noboa, a specialist in Tourism at the Economic Department of Trade and Tourism of the Organization of American States (OAS), it is intended to implement a Technical Assistance Program for Small Hotels in Latin America (PAPH OAS) in the Mercosur region.
Speaking to the Argentine newspaper El Pulso Turístico, the official said that this proposal has been successfully developed in the Caribbean, Central America and the Andean Region. "This program is aimed at strengthening the competitiveness and business practices of this sector, increasing the possibilities and competitiveness of small hotels in this region."
The program has linked more than 300 hotels where it has implemented innovative technology, as a result of this initiative the Central American Federation of Small Hotels (Fecaph) was formed, through which it seeks to guarantee the sustainability and monitoring of the project in the regional context.
"In Mercosur this project is larger since the region has two very large countries. The process in Central America was the most successful of all, and we came to explain what the mistakes were and what the successes were. Hopefully in the future we can be talking about something concrete in Mercosur," the executive said.
